Gadgets and Tech for Summer 2022

by Sabrena Gartland |

There was a period of time, back in the day, where technology existed to make life easier and make a few people some money. Nowadays, technology exists, mostly, to soothe our egos and allow grown adults the opportunity to have as much fun as possible. This summer, maybe you’re preparing for a new career as a skydiving influencer, or even a semi-professional bicyclist. Maybe you just want to catch up on video games. Whatever your needs, here are some tech items bound to give your day a little extra jolt this summer.

Sony Linkbuds

If you ever find yourself in the middle of listening to a podcast or some music and find yourself shocked to the core when you turn around and someone has been waving at you for five minutes, you are the core audience for Sony Linkbuds. These are designed with a hole at the center (the sound comes from the ring) so that you can hear atmospheric sound while still getting the most out of your earbuds.

Insta360 One Action Sport Camera

This action camera is a few steps above your old GoPro, with interchangeable lenses, including a 360 degree lens for immersive video shooting. It shoots in 4K and the batteries are quickly swappable for anything you need to capture immediately after draining your last battery. Perfect for the person on the go who has to record every moment and every exciting obstacle.

Mac Studio

The Mac Studio is Apple’s surprising new introduction into the desktop computer market, geared mostly toward creatives. It’s designed specifically with 3D modeling and designing in mind, as well as video editing. It’s incredibly powerful, which also means it’s quite expensive, but for someone in need of a new rig, this is the thing for you.

Samsung Galazy Z Flip3

Flip phones have been back for some time now, and Samsung seems to be perfecting bendable touchscreens with every release. It’s full of powerful features, and it’s waterproof, to boot. On top of the foldable screen, there’s an additional back screen designed to show you notifications, etc when you’ve got your phone shut and stowed.

AllBirds Tree Dasher 2

These shoes are meant to give other running shoes some competition in the environmental friendliness department. They are made from eucalyptus tree fibers, and the shoelaces are made from recycled plastic bottles. They’re lightweight, and more stylish than other shoes that make similar claims. They have a simple black and white design that isn’t going to turn any heads – that is, until you explain how little carbon was used to make them overall.

If technology is already going to control a huge portion of our lives, we might as well let it do so with a little style, and while we’re having some fun. Summer time may be about enjoying the world around us and the people we surround ourselves with, but integrating a little bit of tech into our summer lives can only make it easier.
